Investing in the UK

This page shows the impact that our Fund has on communities across the UK through our investment in Infrastructure and Real Estate.

Our members want to know where their pension is invested and, with the publication of this map, over 70% of our Fund's holdings are now available to view online. You can see our listed equity investments on our transparency dashboard.

As a Fund, we support the Just Transition — a strategy that seeks to ensure the benefits of a green economy are shared widely — and we recognise the interest in how pension funds currently invest.

We need to move to a low-carbon economy in a fair and inclusive way, creating decent work opportunities and leaving no one behind. It's also important that sustainable development and local economic resilience is supported across the UK by stimulating business growth, job creation and improving transport and other types of infrastructure.

While pension funds have a role to play, it is important to understand what is already taking place. We hope that this map contributes to the debate already under way.

Supporting the UK by investing in Infrastructure

Our Fund is invested in over 100 clean energy and infrastructure assets. These assets include:

one offshore wind farm capable of powering over 1 million homes
one onshore wind farm capable of powering 290,000 homes
three other clean energy assets including an energy storage facility, an energy storage platform (three near-term projects) and a renewable energy platform (18 projects: 12 solar and 6 wind).

We also invest in social infrastructure assets including:

41 health and care facilities, including hospitals with over 14,700 total beds
23 operators of schools, catering for over 141,200 pupils.

Supporting the UK by Real Estate investing

Our Fund is invested in 138 housing and commercial real estate assets across the UK. These assets have helped to facilitate:

3,980 build-to-rent homes, with a further 5,170 planned
1,011 homes planned, 32% of which are affordable homes
one student development that will house over 500 students.

Of the 138 assets, 114 are commercial real estate assets which have:

provided 692,500m² of employment space
supported an estimated 19,600 (FTE) jobs across a variety of industries and sectors.
